Honor has unveiled the Honor Magic V5, its 2025 foldable smartphone designed to rival Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Huawei Mate XT. With a sleek design, powerful Snapdragon chipset, and advanced cameras, the Magic V5 shows how far foldable technology has come.
Sleek Foldable Design
The Honor Magic V5 features an 8-inch foldable OLED display with 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. When folded, it offers a 6.5-inch AMOLED cover screen with HDR10+ support. Honor has focused on making the hinge thinner and more durable, with a crease that’s far less noticeable than in previous generations.
The device is made of aerospace-grade aluminum and comes with Gorilla Glass protection on the cover screen. It is available in elegant colors such as Midnight Black, Emerald Green, and Pearl White.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Performance
At its core, the Magic V5 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, paired with 12GB/16GB RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. The processor ensures smooth performance across gaming, multitasking, and AI-driven tasks. Honor has also added a liquid cooling system for improved thermal management.
Quad-Camera System
The Magic V5 comes with a quad rear camera setup:
- 50MP main wide sensor with OIS
- 50MP ultra-wide lens
- 32MP telephoto with 3x zoom
- 64MP periscope telephoto with 6x zoom
The cameras are co-engineered with Honor’s AI software to improve low-light photography and portrait quality. On the front, a 20MP selfie camera on the cover screen and a 16MP in-display camera on the foldable panel offer flexible selfie options.
Battery and Charging
The foldable houses a 5000mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Honor claims a 0–60% charge in just 20 minutes, which is impressive for a foldable device.
Software and Ecosystem
The Honor Magic V5 ships with MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15. Honor has integrated multi-tasking features like split-screen, drag-and-drop, and enhanced stylus support. The device is also optimized for Honor’s ecosystem of laptops, tablets, and wearables.
Price in India
The Honor Magic V5 is expected to launch in India at around ₹1,29,999 for the base 12GB/256GB variant. Higher-end models with 1TB storage could cross ₹1,50,000.
Verdict
The Honor Magic V5 is a serious contender in the foldable market, combining sleek design, powerful performance, and versatile cameras. With Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, an 8-inch OLED display, and blazing-fast charging, it gives users a premium foldable experience at a competitive price point.
